Think Outside the Bait Box: Southbury Event Warns of Rodenticide Dangers

Residents are invited to “Think Outside the Bait Box” with an informative program hosted by Southbury Animal Control and guest speakers on Wednesday, June 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Town Hall.

The presentation, held in room 205, aims to raise awareness of the harm caused by anticoagulant rodenticides pesticides used in rodent bait boxes placed around homes and buildings and responsible for secondary poisonings of birds, owls, hawks, foxes, pets, and even children.

The program’s speakers include Christine Cummings, Director of A Place Called Hope; Nicole Rivard, Media & Government Relations Manager for Friends of Animals; and Joshua Levin, Legislative & Advocacy Manager for CT Votes for Animals.

Southbury recently became the second town in the state to ban rodenticides on town property, codifying an already used practice in town.
