The flaming chalice is the most widely used symbol of Unitarian Universalism. On Sundays, the ritual of lighting our chalice marks the beginning of the service with words shared by the congregation, inspired by the theme of the month.
The theme for June is “Flourishing Together.” June celebrates the beginning of summer with our annual Flower Communion service, a cherished ritual celebrating community, diversity, and the beauty of life. Congregants bring a flower from their own garden or neighborhood and place it in a shared vase. The flowers are blessed and then redistributed, reminding us of the theme for June.
Other religious and cultural observances, including Father’s Day and Pride Month, will be celebrated. Our Unitarian Universalist General Assembly will be held with a variety of online workshops, lectures, and special worship services will also be a highlight.
Sunday morning worship services are held at 11 a.m. at 283 Main Street North in Southbury. We gather in the sanctuary at UCC Southbury, followed by refreshments and conversation in the social hall. We nurture the human spirit, bringing love and justice to transform ourselves and our world. Children are always welcome to join us. Our Religious Exploration program invites families to participate throughout the year. All are welcome.
