A local family was displaced Wednesday night after a fire tore through a home on Roxbury Road, drawing a large mutual aid response from fire and EMS agencies across the region and causing a partial building collapse, officials said.
Emergency crews responded just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to a fire reported in the attached garage of the home at 957 Roxbury Road. Multi-generational occupants inside the home were evacuated before crews arrived.
Crews from multiple towns established a water supply and set up a fill site near Grace Meadows as tankers shuttled water to the scene. During the operation, a section of the building partially collapsed, and additional crews were called in to relieve firefighters who had been operating at the scene.
An excavator was later brought to the scene to knock down a section of the building deemed unsafe.

Two firefighters were transported for minor heat-related issues, Roxbury Fire officials said in a social media post.
Mutual aid came from fire departments, including the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company, Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department and the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department. Southbury Ambulance also assisted at the scene, while incident rehabilitation for firefighters was handled by Roxbury Ambulance, Oxford EMS and the Woodbury Ambulance Association.
Part of Roxbury Road was closed off for the duration of the operation but has since reopened.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
