The Southbury Democratic Town Committee (SDTC) will host its Annual Family Picnic and Silent Auction on Sunday, August 30, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Ballantine Park Pavilion, 611 Old Field Road. This family-friendly event will be held rain or shine and promises an afternoon of great food, community spirit, and civic engagement.

“Our annual picnic is a wonderful opportunity for Southbury residents of all ages to meet and connect with leaders from the Connecticut Democratic Party,” said Michael Carrington, Chair of the SDTC. “It’s a chance to ask questions, share concerns, and learn how you can become involved in shaping Connecticut’s future,” he added.

This year’s event will feature a silent auction with a variety of popular items for guests to bid on. Back by popular demand, Frankie’s Family Restaurant will cater and serve a delicious menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, sides, and their famous fried dough.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Matthew Knickerbocker, the Democratic candidate for the 32nd State Senate District, and Heather Stafford, the Democratic candidate for the 131st State House District.

Additional candidates appearing on the November ballot have also been invited to attend. In just a few months, Southbury voters will cast ballots for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the 5th Congressional District, U.S. Senator, Secretary of the State, Attorney General, State Comptroller, and Treasurer.

“Democracy doesn’t pause between presidential elections,” said Carrington. “Midterm elections determine many of the decisions that directly affect our communities, and because voter turnout is historically lower, every vote carries even greater weight. We encourage residents to join us, meet and support our Democratic candidates, and become engaged in the democratic process,” he said.

Tickets for lunch are $30 each for adults and $15 each for children aged 12 and under. To reserve your spot, visit http://www.southburydemocrats.com, complete the reservation form, and submit payment. Please indicate the number of veggie burgers your party will need when registering.
