FRC 2064 The Panther Project, the Pomperaug High School Robotics Team, is preparing to kick off its 2026-27 season with an EyeRecycle bottle drive fundraising event on Sept. 6 from noon to 2 p.m. at 800 Main Street South in Southbury.
The team is preparing for this year’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) challenge and is seeking community support. FRC 2064 does not receive funding from the school district and relies on support from sponsors, grants and community donations to cover the costs of parts and tools needed to build its robot, as well as competition expenses.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Pomperaug Robotics Team FRC 2064. Donations and sponsorships help the team compete while supporting STEM education and youth development. The event is open to everyone, regardless of residency.
Participants should note that EyeRecycle now requires aluminum cans to be placed in separate bags from plastic bottles. Plastic bottles should be sorted by size: under 1 liter, 1 liter and 2 liters. Glass bottles must be brought in cardboard boxes to help prevent breakage.
For information about accepted items, presorting instructions and the express lane, visit Sustainable Southbury’s EyeRecycle event page or email info@sustainablesouthbury.org.
Sustainable Southbury also accepts inkjet printer cartridges, but not laser printer cartridges. Proceeds from the recycling of printer cartridges benefit Sustainable Southbury.
