The Connecticut Department of Transportation says the first stage of a bridge replacement for a box culvert on Route 67 (Southford Road) in Southbury will begin next weekend, bringing lane closures and a full road closure at the I-84 Exit 15 interchange.
According to CTDOT, the work is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, and be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, July 27.
There will be lane closures at the intersection of I-84 eastbound at Exit 15 and Route 67 (Southford Road), with Community House Road closed during this time and traffic being detoured to Peck Lane.
The right lane at the Exit 15 off-ramp will also be closed. I-84 eastbound at the Exit 15 on-ramp and Kettletown Road will be maintained from all directions. Route 67 will maintain a travel lane in each direction.
Along with signage, police officers will guide motorists through the work zone.
The project (0130-0190) consists of the removal of the bridge (07051), which is an existing metal arch culvert, and the installation of a new precast concrete box culvert under the roadway.
CT Project No. 0130-0190 was awarded to Richards Corporation at a cost of $2,177,686 on February 24, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed September 30, 2026.
CTDOT cautioned that the schedule could change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
