On behalf of the Southbury Land Trust and the Southbury 250th Commission, we wanted to thank all of the folks who joined us for the Southbury Rochambeau Traverse which occurred on June 6th, and held on CT Trails Day across the state.
The event was a wonderful experience and a great success!
We know our fellow Southbury Rochambeau Traverse hikers would agree. We appreciated what they brought to the event — their enthusiasm, a love of the outdoors, strong legs, and an interest in how the events that shaped our country and town occurred while walking right through our own backyard.
We would also like to thank Southbury Town Historian John Dwyer for his time and expertise and his wonderful stories along the route.
Thanks to the Southbury Historical Society, who unveiled a new plaque on the town memorial green commemorating the historical event and for serving refreshments.
Finally, we also want to express our thanks to the people and/or groups who let us walk across their properties, or assisted us with hiking logistics to make the day a success.
Thank you to:
Dave Cook and the Pomperaug Golf Club;
Greg Miller and the Gainfield Farms Golf Course;
Region 15 School District;
The Heritage Hotel;
First Student Bus Company;
Sgt. Recupero of the Southbury Police Department;
We are pleased that it ran smoothly and that everyone enjoyed the event. Take a minute and visit the town memorial green to see the new plaque that was unveiled.
— Joe Ruggiero,
Southbury Land Trust
