Southbury to Celebrate Make Music Day on Sunday, June 21st

Southbury will join the global celebration of Make Music Day on Sunday, June 21.

The free, day-long, town-wide festival will feature musicians of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels as they transform public spaces into lively performance venues.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy and participate in the celebration of creativity and community. The event is organized by Heritage Village and the Southbury Arts & Culture Alliance (SACA), and is also part of the international Make Music Day movement, celebrated in over 1,000 cities around the world.

This year’s celebration will feature performances throughout Southbury at a variety of participating locations, including Heritage Village (multiple venues), The Rathskeller Restaurant & Bar, Señor Panchos, Vicinanza Studios & Gallery, The Tavern at the Heritage Hotel, and The Press Box Theater. These venues will help transform Southbury into a community-wide stage, welcoming musicians and audiences throughout the day.

Some of the day’s performers include Annie Grilli, a Nature Song Writer/Performer, at Vicinanza Studios & Gallery; One Track Mind playing at Señor Panchos; as well as Don “Fog PM” Feuerstein performing at The Rathskeller Restaurant & Bar.

An official schedule of performances and participating musicians is available at: www.makemusicday.org/southbury

Kelly Keenan, President of SACA, says the day is all about bringing people together through a shared experience.

“Make Music Day gives everyone a chance to experience Southbury’s creative spirit,” said Keenan. “Whether you’re performing, listening, or discovering a new venue, you’re part of a global celebration that connects our community through music.”

As Make Music Day coincides with Father’s Day this year, organizers encourage families to celebrate by spending the day together, enjoying live music, exploring local venues, and supporting the arts throughout Southbury.
