More than 75 residents, including First Selectman Tim O’Neil, attended a screening of ‘Triggers’ hosted by the Heritage Village Jewish Culture Club on June 7.

The documentary features Heritage Village resident Hana Keshet and examines the lasting impact of Holocaust trauma across generations.

The post-film discussion was moderated by Heritage Village resident Adam H. Brill. Keshet and Brill are active members of B’nai Israel Southbury.

In the above photo, Keshet and O’Neil stand beside the Auschwitz-Birkenau prisoner jacket worn by Keshet’s father, Holocaust survivor Arie Weisbrot, during World War II.

Weisbrot, born in Poland in 1925, survived three years in the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, with his story marked by the preservation of artifacts including a small prayer book (siddur), a treasure chest, and the uniform displayed at last week’s event.
