Southbury Selectman Jason Van Stone attended an economic development event Wednesday at Post University’s downtown Waterbury campus as part of Connecticut Tech Week.

Van Stone welcomed attendees to the Economic Development Exchange, an event bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders and public officials to drive conversations around innovation, workforce development, and economic growth throughout Connecticut.

“Economic growth and innovation do not happen in isolation,” said Van Stone. “Events like this create meaningful opportunities for educators, businesses, entrepreneurs, and government leaders to work together in ways that strengthen communities throughout our region.”

The event brought together stakeholders from across Connecticut and featured remarks from local and state leaders, including Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski and State Senator Eric Berthel (R-32).

Sponsored by organizations including the Connecticut Economic Development Association, Realist Lab, Waterbury Development Corporation, and Main Street Waterbury, the event highlighted the importance of cross-sector partnerships in building stronger local economies.

“As communities across Connecticut continue working to attract talent, create opportunity, and support entrepreneurship, bringing these conversations to our region is more important than ever,” said Van Stone.

Last month, Van Stone was elected as the First Vice Chairman/Chairman of Public Policy of the Waterbury Regional Chamber Board of Directors.
