Midd-South Catholic will host Harmony with Creation: Indigenous Wisdom & Music of Praise on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

The event invites the community to reflect on humanity’s relationship with the natural world through the lens of Indigenous teachings and spiritual music.
The program features Darlene Kascak, a citizen of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation and Educational Outreach Ambassador at the Institute for American Indian Studies in Washington, CT. Kascak will lead a discussion on Etuaptmumk, or Two-Eyed Seeing, a Mi’kmaw teaching developed by Elder Albert Marshall that encourages viewing the world through both Indigenous and Western perspectives. Her interactive presentation will include visuals and hands-on artifacts, offering participants a deeper understanding of how these ways of knowing can complement one another to foster respect, collaboration, and shared wisdom.
Musical inspiration will be provided by Samuel DeCaprio, cellist and founder of the Arazzo Music Festival, whose performance will celebrate harmony and reverence for creation through music.
The event draws on the words of Pope Francis, who calls for “open dialogue between Indigenous knowledge and the sciences… to confront in a new, more integral and effective way such crucial issues as water, climate change, hunger, and biodiversity.”
Attendance is free, and registration is encouraged. Visit middsouthcatholic.org/harmony or call the Parish Office at (203) 264-5078.
