Local residents will have an opportunity to learn more about their drinking water and how to protect it during a World Water Day event at the Southbury Public Library later this month.
The program, titled “WaTer You Drinking?”, will be held Sunday, March 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library.
The event is being organized by the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and Sustainable Southbury in recognition of World Water Day, an annual international observance focused on freshwater conservation.
Presentations will cover where local drinking water comes from, how homeowners can properly maintain well and septic systems, and information about PFAS and other emerging contaminants. Local well and septic professionals, utility representatives and public health experts will also be available to answer questions.
Families are encouraged to stop by the kids’ craft corner for water-themed activities for children of all ages.
This event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residence. Registration is required. For more information and to register, visit https://www.southburylibrary.org/event/pompeaug-river-watershed-50729.
