Troop 1607, a thriving local scouting troop, is teaming up with Sustainable Southbury for a recyclable fundraiser.

The fundraiser will take place on Sunday, March 1, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 800 Main Street South, Southbury.

Through weekly meetings and monthly camping trips, scouts in Troop 1607 build a strong sense of adventure, develop character, and prepare young people to become capable leaders.

Troop 1607 is arranged into pods of 6-8 scouts of mixed age and gender, called “patrols”. The members of each patrol work together to learn outdoor skills and run the troop. From electing their own leader to maintaining their own gear and planning camping menus, the scouting experience provides the opportunity to socialize and make lifelong friendships.

Proceeds from the bottle and can drive will directly support Troop 1607 in carrying out its mission.

Please note that EyeRecycle requires aluminum cans to be bagged separately from plastic bottles. Plastic bottles must be pre-sorted by size: under 1 liter, 1 liter, and 2 liters. Glass bottles must be placed in cardboard boxes to prevent breakage.

For the most up-to-date information on items not accepted (including commonly brought cans not covered by state redemption contracts), presorting requirements, and the use of the express lane, visit http://www.sustainablesouthbury.org/eye-recycle-event or email info@sustainablesouthbury.org.
