State Representative Jason Buchsbaum (R-69) is seeking reelection to Connecticut’s 69th House District, which includes Bridgewater, a portion of New Milford, Roxbury, and most of Southbury.

Buchsbaum, a Southbury resident, was first elected in November 2024.

“This past year in office has been both rewarding and productive,” said Buchsbaum. “I have valued the opportunity to connect with many residents and local leaders across Bridgewater, New Milford, Roxbury and Southbury.”

In a statement, Buchsbaum noted that his priorities include lowering Connecticut’s exorbitant energy costs, supporting public safety and emergency services, opposing unfunded mandates and excessive legislative overreach, and protecting the right of towns to govern themselves.

“My focus in the year ahead will remain supporting common-sense policies to make Connecticut more affordable and reduce the cost of living,” said Buchsbaum.

Buchsbaum has met the fundraising requirements to qualify for Connecticut’s Citizens’ Election Program (CEP), which provides public campaign financing. His campaign has raised more than $7,500 from over 200 residents within the 69th district in just a few weeks.

“I have been incredibly encouraged and uplifted by the support received across the district, and appreciate all who contributed to making our fundraising effort a success,” said Buchsbaum.

Buchsbaum currently serves on the General Assembly’s Public Safety and Security, Energy and Technology, and Commerce Committees.

Prior to being elected as State Representative in 2024, Buchsbaum was elected to five terms on the Southbury Board of Selectmen, where he most recently served as Chairman Pro Tempore and played a central role in the Town’s effort to form an independent police department. He has also served as Vice Chairman of the 2013-2014 Charter Revision Commission. Previously, as a resident of Seymour, he served as a member of the Board of Education.

Throughout his time in public service, Buchsbaum has subscribed to a results-driven, data-based approach to decision-making, while also advocating for transparency, civil discourse, and collaboration.

The lifelong Connecticut resident is a graduate (magna cum laude) of The George Washington University and earned his juris doctor with high honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

He and his wife, Lauren, have two sons who attend school in Region 15. Buchsbaum is a partner at the Connecticut-based Cohen & Wolf P.C. law firm, where he represents local governments, companies and individuals on a variety of matters.

In his free time, you can find him at local parks with his family, or riding his western Quarter Horse Nevada at a farm in Southbury.

“Our residents deserve strong, common sense leadership in Hartford. I look forward to the upcoming legislative session which begins in February, and continuing to serve the district,” said Buchsbaum.
