The Southbury Republican Town Committee (SRTC) held its caucus on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, unanimously electing 14 returning members and six new members who will begin their terms this March.
Over 100 local Republicans gathered at the Southbury Senior Center to elect members of the committee who are responsible for endorsing candidates for local, state, and federal office. In their two-year terms, members of the committee also support local campaigns, engage in community initiatives and partner with local organizations to benefit Southbury.
The 20 members elected to the SRTC include Gabby Addison, Don Antilla, Anne Armeno, Tony Armeno, Ron Conti, John Demeyer, Frank DiPerna, Doug Faynor, Gary Garofalo, Steven Giacomi, Dave Henn, Norm Jeche, Judy Katzmark, Mary Korsu, Len LaBonia, Heather Leftkowitz, Jason Miller, Dorothy Ortale, Marie Papaioannou, and Jack Zazzaro.

SRTC Chairman Gary Garofalo stated, “The good people of the Republican Party in Southbury showed up in force tonight to ensure the party remains in strong hands. They believe this is the team that will safeguard Southbury.”
Garofalo’s remarks were echoed by Selectman Jason Van Stone, saying, “Republicans came together with a renewed sense of urgency and spoke with one clear voice that this is the team to ensure Southbury continues to preserve the character and traditions that have made it such a special place over the years.”
Garofalo and Van Stone note that their top priorities for the new term include re-electing State Representative Jason Buchsbaum to the State House, and serving as a vigilant watchdog over the actions of the new administration within Town Hall.
