Pink Moon Massage + Wellness Boutique opened its doors in Southbury last week, bringing massage therapy, holistic wellness services, and a boutique retail experience to 134 Main Street South.
In the former footprint of Walt’s Barber Shop – a staple for decades among Southbury’s men – now sits a sanctuary and a healing space catered towards women, owned and operated by one of Southbury’s own.
Jamie McKee, a certified feminine and wellness practitioner, says she wanted to build her own space after years of experience working at other wellness locations.
As a working mom and educator herself, McKee understands the importance of self-care.
“When people take care of others, you tend to put yourself last,” McKee says.
Her mission is to offer that same level of care to women, who are known to selflessly give to others.
Pink Moon’s tagline eloquently states, “You are the temple, not the sacrifice.”
“Women often sacrifice themselves for others, and this is a place to cherish their bodies, so they can reconnect to their bodies and themselves,” said McKee.

McKee’s signature offering is called the “Pink Moon Massage”, which features a blend of relaxation and deep tissue massage to melt away tension from trigger spots and help restore balance.
Just like her signature service, the business’ name is inspired by rose quartz and moonstone.
“Rose quartz is the heart opening, and moonstone is feminine intuition,” explains McKee.
There’s something offered for every stage of a woman’s life, including a “Baby Moon” pampering for mothers-to-be, as well as a “Luxe Pink Moon Massage” which targets deeper tension in the neck, shoulders, and hips.
In her years of experience, McKee has learned how to “read the body”, saying that the body is the map of the life you’ve lived.
She can tell if a person is left- or right-handed based on how they carry something. She can tell if a person sits at a desk for the majority of the workday. And if someone is experiencing migraines, she knows where to spot stress and tension, often found in cases of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) migraines.
Part of her inspiration to open her own spot came from watching other women in surrounding communities opening up their own businesses, each expressing their own vision of wellness.
“If they can do it, so can I,” said McKee, who is also an equine massage therapist.

Part of Pink Moon’s offerings also includes curated self-care products like castor oil products, magnesium products and herb-infused oils for lymphatic circulation.
Pink Moon will begin opening on Thursday and Friday afternoons, and Saturdays. When she’s not in her educator role as a high school English teacher, McKee says Pink Moon will be open more often during the summer.
On Sunday, November 9, Pink Moon will hold an open house from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., complete with tea tastings, mercantile candle scents, and empowerment jewelry.
Pink Moon Massage + Wellness Boutique is located at 134 Main Street South, Unit 31C.
