When the fall chill arrives and the golf bags head to the basement, most local golfers resign themselves to what is commonly known as “golfers depression season.”
Starting this year, local golfers have another option.
Swing 365 Golf, a 24-hour, membership-based golf simulator lounge, opens this weekend at 800 Main Street South.
Owned and operated by Eve Wasz and her husband, Alex, the local couple is bringing year-round, weatherproof play to the heart of Southbury.
The private and secure lounge offers a high-tech golf simulator bay that uses state-of-the-art technology and, as its name suggests, will be open 24/7, 365 days a year.
“You’ve got privacy, you’ve got technology, and you’ve got golf,” said Eve Wasz.
The Omaha-based chain has 21 other facilities in 15 different states, with the next-closest franchise being located in Washington, D.C.
It wasn’t until a trip to Nebraska that the idea of bringing one to Southbury turned into a future business plan for the Wasz family.
As the business model calls for virtually zero employees and minimal overhead, the idea seemed almost too good to be true, said Wasz.
After touring a handful of locations in the Cornhusker State, the pair returned to New England with the plan to become a franchisee.
“A lot of our owner-operators are thriving,” she added.
The technology behind the golf simulator is powered by Full Swing – a brand that professional golfers like Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy have aligned with, some even choosing to put the top-of-the-line simulator bays in their own homes.
The Southbury location comes with a private, clubhouse feel, complete with a sofa, a mounted television, and a BYOB option.
Members can sign up for a tee time electronically, and they are then sent a code to their phone to access the lounge.
When it’s time to tee-off, tracking cameras capture real-time data about players’ performances. Members are also able to compete against the network of Full Swing golfers, as well as friends who can tag along with the use of a guest pass.
A second simulator bay is anticipated to open as more memberships start rolling in, said Wasz.
Memberships start at $149 per month, with tiered levels that offer members the ability to book tee times further in advance, all without a long-term contract.
“This is something I cannot wait to officially open to the public,” said Wasz.
Swing 365 plans to hold an open house on Saturday, October 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
