On Sunday, September 14, at 7:00 pm, Justice Southbury will offer the twenty-seventh in its Speaker Series of interactive Zoom conversations.
Jillian Kong-Sivert, an immigration attorney in Phoenix, Arizona, will present “Who Is This For? More Questions Than Answers From the Front Lines of Immigration.”
Jillian previews her presentation: “I will talk about reasons why immigrants – including our forebears – want to come here, and reasons why we want immigrants. But our laws are not well suited to either of these purposes. My law practice is largely how fundamentally decent people go about making good on the American promise. And the rewards and punishments of our law are, unfortunately, disconnected from that purpose.”
Jillian’s law firm offers immigration services in Arizona before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of State National Visa Center, and the Immigration Court. She has served as Director of Legal Services for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, and the Refugee Program for Amnesty International USA. Jillian is known for “aiding the dreamers and doers.”
