Senior Center Fridays Return September 12

The Southbury Senior Center will once again be open on Fridays, beginning September 12, the town announced Thursday night.

Starting Monday, September 8, 2025, the new Senior Center hours will be:

  • Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

In a statement, First Selectman Jeff Manville thanked town staff, including Senior Services Director Andrea Corcoran and Finance Director Dan Colton, for helping make the expanded schedule possible.

“It has always been my goal to provide greater access to programs and services for the community and support our employees while maintaining our fiscal responsibility to taxpayers,” Manville said.

The change does not require hiring additional staff and will not impact the town budget, according to the announcement. The Board of Selectmen agreed earlier this month to recommend hiring a floater position, but that plan is now nixed.

The return of Friday hours at the Senior Center coincides with Southbury’s now-permanent four-day workweek for certain Town Hall departments. Town Hall hours remain:

  • Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: Closed
