Southbury’s municipal pool at Ballantine Park will be opening later this month, on Monday, June 16th. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 20th.

The grand opening ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting and will run until 3:30 p.m. There will be a variety of activities, including music, a food truck, and games.

Access to the pool will be free to town residents through Friday, July 4th

The heated and ADA-compliant pool features a total of six swimming lanes and a sloped entryway. The pool’s June 16th opening coincides with the first day of swimming lessons offered by the town, as well as the Summer Sharks swim team’s first practice.

Last spring, the bid of $2,377,815 was accepted for the pool improvement project, submitted by Norco Construction, Inc., based out of Long Island, New York. Drakeley Pool Company, a Bethlehem-based subcontractor, also worked to get the pool ready this summer for Southbury residents.

Pool memberships are available for purchase from the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as single-day passes. Day passes are available for purchase by both residents and non-residents; however, non-residents may only enter the pool as guests, accompanied by a Southbury resident. Proof of residency is required at the time of purchase. Checks or credit cards are preferred.

Adult resident day passes will be $10, and child resident day passes will be $8. Non-resident adults and children will be charged $14 and $10, respectively.

Ballantine Park is located at 611 Old Field Road, Southbury.
