A grand opening for the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Southbury Green is slated for Wednesday, June 18th.
The local book store announced via social media that their grand opening event will include author appearances and book signings throughout the day.
Author Terri-Lynne DeFino will help cut the ribbon at 10:00 a.m. and will be signing copies of her latest book, “Didn’t You Use to Be Queenie B?” and other titles.
At noon, author Rebecca Dimyan will be signing copies of her book, “Waiting for Beirut” and other titles.
And at 3:00 p.m., author Gerri Lewis will be on-hand to sign copies of her latest mystery book “Grave Words”.
“We are very pleased to add another new Barnes & Noble to our fleet of Connecticut bookstores,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We are especially happy to take over one of the largest storefronts in Southbury Green. Our Southbury booksellers have been diligently stocking the shelves with a selection curated for the community and are eager to welcome customers into their brand-new Barnes & Noble.”
Store manager Sharon Ewing added, “I am very excited to be joining the Southbury community and can’t wait to meet all of our new customers. I’m especially looking forward to having wonderful conversations about books and sharing the joy of reading!”
Last year, the retail bookseller opened more new bookstores in a single year (57) than it had in the 10-year span from 2009 to 2019. They expect to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025, including last month’s opening of a new store in Stamford, CT.
ZN Construction and Contracting LLC, based out of Canton, was contracted to construct the nearly 10,000-square-foot site that used to be the home of the GAP clothing store.
The Southbury Green is located at 775 Main St. South
