With August being National Make-A-Will month, the Southbury Ambulance Association has put together some information regarding the annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of an estate plan.
During your life you manage all your assets, but what happens to these assets and your family once you pass? That’s where a will comes in.
According to the Florida-based Mazenko Law Firm, in 2024 only 32% of people reported having a will, with 4 in 10 people believing they do not have enough assets for a will.
While many people consider making a will and estate planning something they can “get to later,” National Make-A-Will Month is a chance to start reflecting on it and taking that step when it feels right.
A will isn’t just a legal document; it serves as a reflection of your values and allows you to decide how your legacy will live on. Having a will ensures that your wishes are honored and that your assets are protected. Many people choose to leave assets behind for family and loved ones, and others choose to support community organizations that have been there for them. These choices help to shape a legacy that reflects who you are and your values.
As your local EMS provider, Southbury Ambulance has been honored to serve the Southbury community since 1953. Whether that is responding to medical emergencies, providing lifesaving care, or being prepared and equipped for a medical emergency to help when needed. One meaningful way people choose to help us continue serving our community is through including SAA in their will through a bequest.
A bequest is a planned gift given to a nonprofit organization as part of a will. A bequest of any size can help strengthen our emergency response capabilities, support our volunteers and training, and ensure that we are able to continue caring for Southbury’s community for many more years to come. A bequest for SAA can help maintain a solid foundation and make a lasting impact for years to come.
