The Knights of Columbus Council 5066 will host an all-day blood drive for the American Red Cross on July 14, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the church hall at the Sacred Heart Campus of Midd-South Catholic Church.
The drive comes as the Red Cross reports a critical shortage of blood products heading into the summer months, when donations typically decline even as demand remains steady.
The Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood and blood components, but with only 3 percent of age-eligible people donating each year, supply often cannot keep pace with demand.
Donors are encouraged to register in advance at redcrossblood.org and enter “Southbury” to schedule an appointment.
The Midd-South Catholic Church is located at 910 Main Street South.
