Southbury will take part in a nationwide reading of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday, July 8 at 6 p.m., marking the 250th birthday of the United States and commemorating the document’s very first public reading.
Members of the Southbury Fire Department, Police Department, EMS, and local veterans will each read a segment of the Declaration aloud during the ceremony.
The event, organized by the Southbury America 250th Commission, will be held at the Southbury Senior Center (561 Main Street South).
Americans in all 50 states, including dozens of communities in Connecticut, will all join the synchronized national celebration simultaneously.
