Southbury Library to Open as Cooling Center Wednesday, Thursday

As high heat and humidity settle over the region this week, the Southbury Public Library will be open as a cooling center on Wednesday and Thursday for residents seeking relief from the extreme temperatures.

The library, located at 100 Poverty Road, will be available as a cooling center during the following hours:

Wednesday, July 1: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 2: 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Extreme Heat Warnings have been issued for most of the state, with heat index values expected to exceed 100 degrees in many locations.

Residents should also note that the library will be closed on Friday, July 3; Saturday, July 4; and Sunday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day and aligning with the start of the library’s summer hours.

Anyone seeking additional cooling center locations across Connecticut can call 2-1-1 or visit 211ct.org.
