The Southbury Arts & Culture Alliance (SACA) will hold its second Artists’ Pantry Free Shopping Day on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Southbury Parks & Recreation, following a highly successful first event last November.

The Artists’ Pantry is a free, community-driven initiative where residents can donate unused or gently used art supplies, for the greater community to then “shop” for materials at no cost. The goal: make creativity accessible to everyone.

The inaugural event drew strong community participation, highlighting both the need for and enthusiasm behind accessible arts programming. SACA hopes to build on that turnout and reach more residents this spring.

“The response to our first Artists’ Pantry was incredible,” said Sherrie Romano, SACA Vice President and Artists’ Pantry Chair. “It showed how much our community values creativity and connection. We’re excited to grow this program and continue making art accessible to all.”

Event details:
Donations: 8:00 – 10:00 AM (Bring your unused or gently loved art supplies to stock the Artists’ Pantry)
Free shopping: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Open to all community members)
Location: Southbury Parks & Recreation, 561 Main Street South, Southbury

Art supplies can be expensive, but the Artists’ Pantry aims to ensure that cost is no barrier to creativity.
