March marks the arrival of Spring, the start of Daylight Saving Time, St. Patrick’s Day, and National Women’s History Month.

Yes, March is a significant month for celebrating women — a time for recognition, reflection, and the resilience of inspiring women who have paved the way for progress.

Southbury Ambulance is lucky to have Volunteer Chief Geralyn Hoyt at the helm. Her passion for EMS began at 16-years-old when she joined Southbury Civil Defense, the original Emergency Management. She has been a volunteer EMT, ambulance driver, crew chief, instructor, and a fixture on the All-Volunteer Southbury Ambulance Association (SAA) Board of Directors throughout her nearly 47 years of service.

Her commitment and passion for public service is nothing short of astounding. Her lifelong efforts at Southbury Ambulance have rewarded our community with the best emergency medical care and transport.

Geralyn has been a true pioneer and an inspiration in our community.
