Hike the Miller Trail in Kettletown State Park. We will pass a charcoal hearth site, seasonal views of Lake Zoar, old stone walls, and evidence of the destruction caused in the park by the tornado of May 15, 2018. This is a loop trail. Not stroller friendly. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear, and bring water and a snack. The hike is moderate, with the usual Connecticut up and down.

If time and interest allow, we will take a small diversion to see some of the damage in the park from the flood of August 18, 2024. When arriving at the park, drive straight in, keeping to the right at junctions. Arrive at the trail head for the Miller Trail on the right. Parking is available there, or in other lots close by.

Rabies Vaccination Clinic for Dogs and Cats

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location: Southbury Town Garage, 66 Peter Road, Southbury, CT
Admission: $20 per animal (cash only)
Organizer: Southbury Animal Control | Southbury Veterinary Hospital | Southbury Town Clerk

The Southbury Animal Control and Roxbury Animal Clinic are working together to provide a low cost rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats.

The cost is $20.00 per animal, CASH ONLY. There are no residency requirements. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. Cats on leashes will not be accepted. Collar tags and certificates will be provided as required by law.

Connecticut law requires that all dogs and cats 3 months of age or older be vaccinated against rabies. Written proof of prior vaccination for rabies must be presented to qualify for a three-year certificate. Tags are not acceptable proof. A one-year certificate will be given to all others. This is in compliance with the directive of the State Veterinarian. State Law requires that all pets vaccinated for the first time in 2015 must be re-vaccinated within 1 year. Check your pets’ rabies vaccination certificate for the expiration date.

The Southbury Town Clerk will also be at the clinic to issue dog licenses. A copy of the current rabies vaccination is required. The cost is $8.00 for spayed or neutered dogs and $19.00 for intact male and female dogs; payable by check only. For more information, visit southbury-ct.org/doglicenses.
